About Us

The Food Depot, Northern New Mexico's Food Bank Operations:

Each month, we distribute an average of 400,000 pounds of food and household products, providing 500,000 meals to people in need. The Food Depot distributes food and related products through 145 nonprofit food programs in nine counties - Rio Arriba, Taos, Mora, Colfax, San Miguel, Union, Harding, Los Alamos and Santa Fe. At our warehouse in Santa Fe, we have the facilities to handle any kind of food item -- dry, canned, refrigerated, frozen or fresh. We welcome donations from the food industry, including growers, food manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers. And we gladly accept foods gathered through community food drives.

Productivity and Efficiency:

Because the need is so great and resources are always so scarce, The Food Depot is committed to operating as productively and efficiently as possible. We do our best to minimize the money we spend on administrative overhead. In fact, 93 cents of every dollar goes to feeding people in need, making us one of the most efficient charities around. Another important source of our productivity is the labor our hundreds of volunteers provide. Each month, volunteers contribute an average of 1200 hours of service, saving The Food Depot $22,000 in labor costs. Who benefits most from these efforts? The thousands of people in need we serve across nine Northern New Mexico counties.
